Discovery and development – a decision

Written by Theresa Nhật Lai Ngô on Friday, December 1, 2023

The real art of discovery is not to search, but to reflect.

Albert Einstein

Life is a journey of discovery

As Einstein already recognized: Discovery does not lie in searching, but in reflecting. Not on the outside, but on the inside. Not in "What am I missing? Where can I find it? I have to go out and look!”, but in “What does it look like in here? What am I actually like? Wow, it's all in me!”.

Discover. Okay, which covers?

It's called discovering. What covers lie within us?

The cover of anger. The cover of sorrow. The cover of shame. The cover of all wounds. The cover of distrust. The cover of fear.

And what lies beneath?

Let's take away all these covers.

What do we discover?

Ourselves.

And God at the same time.

The divine within us.

Like us really are.

We discover the innermost, most valuable treasure of our lives:

Our beautiful, true and good self.

Just as we were once thought to be uncovered and undefiled by the Creator himself.

The way we were born as children.

Yes, that is what we need to discover within ourselves.

Discover. And then?

Then let it unfold.

The good news is: Everything is already within us, the full potential of ourselves.

From the beginning.

Just like the flower is already in the seed.

To unfold means to allow oneself to unfold, just like the flower that blooms.

We can reflect again:

Do we allow it? Do we let go of our ideas about how it has to be, how we have to be? Do we accept ourselves as we are?

Because in the assumption lies the unfolding

I accept God. I accept myself.

I receive everything I need, what is already within me.

The river of life flows from God in me through me.

The order of life within me can flourish and I with it.

God's unfolding in me,

is my unfolding in God.

The order is crucial.

Actually it is quite easy...

There isn't much to do, but what there is to do is worth it.

1. Discover

Let's put the covers aside. This often requires a great deal of humility and courage.

2. Unfold

Unfolding lies in letting go and accepting.

What do we have to let go of?

INhe we be should, what is dictated by Others.

Who we will be want, what is dictated by ours limited imagination.

What must we accept?

Who we are. That leads to unfolding the infinite, divine power in us. True freedom in action.

Ready to discover your life?

The true freedom

The flower has no choice. It grows from the seed, in the given good conditions it will grow up from the earth towards heaven. First the stem, leaves and buds grow, and finally the petals unfold.

The flower cannot run away.

We do. The agony of choice.

How do we decide?

Therein lies our freedom.

Discover and unfold.

Look, let go, accept.

Do we choose the good, the beautiful, the true, what we actually want, or the opposite?

A simple decision.

And yet not so easy.

The dilemma of a human life:

For I do not practice the good that I want,

but the evil that I do not will, that I do.

Romans 7:19

Open your hand and open your heart

Let's open the outer and inner fist. Let us open our hardened hearts for our salvation and for the good of others and accept the beautiful, true and good that has always been planted within us.

Because in the acceptance lies the unfolding.
